Barely Legal
by Karla ° Friday, January 25, 2008
There was a change in plans, and this morning I dropped Nate off at daycare.

It’s only been three hours, but this is the longest we have been apart, ever.

This feeling of total freedom feels barely legal. And a bit lonely.

Nate says, “Woman, go seek ye some peace in the form of a non-fat vanilla flavoured beverage.”

And who am I to argue with a pint-sized preacher of the caffeine gospel?

Amen!

Last week the boys went to a neighbours while Emily napped. There was TWO HOURS of COMPLETE SILENCE.

It was awesome. And yes, a little lonely :)

Haha, you'll get used to it! :) I eased into things myself. We had a couple of visits together first, then Jade went alone for one morning, and then one day. I was definitely pretty anxious the first few times, but it's often the case that the moms are more anxious than the kids. :)

Fantastic!

I remember the first few times Lucy went to daycare and I didn't know what to do with myself. Actually, it was more like: "OMG, I have all this free time and seventy bajillion things I can do." It was more overwhelming deciding which task to tackle.

Be sure to take some time just relaxing.

And remember: Nate's fine.

Yay, you!

I am feeling a little jealous. I hope you have a nice day.

Aw, I am sure he will do well.

I like that when I am away from kids awhile I come back feeling refreshed and more aware of how much I love and couldn't do without the kids.

Here is to refreshment!!!!!

Good For you!

Enjoy your caffeinated beverage and few hours of me time.

Oh the thought of a caffeinated beverage!!! I think it's fabulous that you are getting some "you" time and it definitely helps one appreciate all the wonderfulness that kid time brings. :-)

Yea!!! So proud of you. I must ask though, what was Nate's reaction as you walked out the door? Boston is so attached to my hip that he SCREAMS anytime someone else holds him. Ahhh the guilt it brings.. but they always say the kids calm down right after the parent leaves.

With a face like that, I'd believe anything he said! Hallelujah!
Enjoy your time off when you get it! :)

That's why I joined the Y. They have childcare with your membership, and I find every excuse possible now to go and work out! They love it, and so do I! Now, if I could just find a way to sneak out while they're still in there w/o being noticed!

Are his bottom teeth growing in on one side, or was it just the angle his mouth was at? Either way, it's SO cute!

:) Must be the angle Christi. His two bottom teeth are smack dab in the middle.
