A Book to Treasure
by Karla ° Thursday, April 26, 2007
I received one of the most delightful and touching gifts in the mail yesterday. Canadian author and columnist Ann Douglas sent me a book called Someday by Alison McGhee.

It is the most heartwarming story of a mother’s hopes and dreams for her baby as she grows and experiences life to become her own person from the day she "watched snowflakes melt on her baby's skin" to "the day her child’s hair glows silver in the sun".

It's so gossamer and delicately written and full of a mothers love and desire for her child to experience life to its fullest that I couldn’t help but feel more weepy and emotional with every turn of the page of this tender and moving rendition of a mothers dreams for her child coming full circle.

So thank you Ann. The book is perfect and will be forever treasured.

And as far as Nate’s recent decline on the percentile charts? If I did calorie burning aerobics like this all day, I would be all skeletal-like and look lost in my clothes too!

Ann Douglas sends you stuff? Fancy! I love all of her books! I'm going to have to check out that other book...I've never heard of the author before.

Nate looks like he's doing just fine! Zander was the same way...but if he was mal-nourished, he wouldn't have the energy to move like that!

Oh my goodness...that is too cute! He really goes! Just wait until he's turned over and scooting along the floor, he'll break baby crawling speed records!

Thanks for the book recommendation. I'll definitely check it out.

Nate is such an active little guy! I wish I had half as much energy.

I love Ann Douglas! I am an Ann Douglas geek, so I am jealous.

Nate looks amazingly well. Stupid averages and charts and bell curves.

I just recently received this lovely book from one of my bestest friends... It is just so, so, nice. Very fitting for Mothers Day. I'm glad you enjoyed it as well. Nate looks just ducky to me, my girlies are teensy tiny as well, and heck they're fine. Cute too, just like Baby Nate :)

He is beyond adorable and soooo active, really gonna be a little rockstar....My daughter packs away piles of food and is still loads lighter than her fussy-eater brother. But some kids are just naturally smaller -she also only makes it to just above his shoulders- makes her look a year younger rather than 15 minutes older!!!!

HAHAHA I love that Karla! What a happy little boy you have there! Honestly by the looks of this video there is not one thing wrong with the little pup. I wish I had his energy!

I will have to pick up that book, it sounds amazing.

I'm glad to hear your ass does bounce when you run, that makes me feel a bit more at ease. I have to wonder if it hurts because there is an access of fat lying on the surface of mine or something? Oh well.. at least I have an ass, my mothers and sisters don't so I shouldn't complain. :) haha

Karla - three of my closest friends are all pregnant right now...each with little girls. I just placed an order for three of these books. Thank you for the recommendation!!

I think of you every time I remember a book called Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. It makes me cry every time. Such a precious mother/son book. Check it out here...http://www.amazon.com/Love-You-Forever-Robert-Munsch/dp/0920668372.

I know I've said it time and time again and I'll keep saying it, Nate is P.E.R.F.E.C.T!! I loved the sound of your laughter near the end of the video! Just beautiful!! Hugs and love from Ohio!

Awww Naterbug is soooooo cute in his 18 week picture, but also MOM YOU LOOK HOT! You two are soooo cute.

Awwwww! So freakin' cute!

Seriously, active babies burn calories like crazy. My Noah fell completely off the charts at 2% weight at 9mos, but he bounced back at 12 mos. He's just a bundle of energy and goes until I drop. LOL Unless Nate is listless or not eating well, I wouldn't stress too much.
