Godforsaken applesauce
by Karla ° Wednesday, July 9, 2008
For being so brave at his 18 month well-child checkup, I covered Nate's hand with stickers. This innocent act of bribery has created a sticker crazy toddler who will not stop insisting that I reapply his happy faces whenever they fall off.

I’m not sure when it happened, but at some point along the way his body turned into a perpetual motion machine that is so industriously busy it actually emits a low-pitched hum. And because he is a perpetually humming in-motion toddler with no ability whatsoever to control his emotions, I keep sticking those blasted stickers back on his hand lest I face the wrath of a perpetually never-ending toddler tantrum.

I'm thinking I should just wrap him in duck tape and call it a day.

Nate is 31.5” tall and barely tips the scales at 20.5 lbs. Which means he is still, well, super skinny. Like, still fits in the same clothes he was wearing nine months ago, skinny. But his pattern of growth continues to be steady and consistent, which I wish I could also say about his moods. Because seriously, this kid needs to learn that it is not the Second Coming of Christ if someone offers him applesauce. And even if it was, not even Jesus would understand what he finds so godforsaken horrible about it.

S cute, indeed. I totally get the wearing the same clothes for a long time----totally makes the clothing budget stretch, right?!?

My little boy is 2.5 and at his 2 year well visit he was 19 pounds 16 oz. I took him back to the doctor about 3 months later and he was up to 20 pounds 12 oz.!! He gets too long for things long before he is too big around for them...LOL!

Aw, what a beautiful child!
I have an 8 year old daughter, a little more than a head shorter than me, who can still wear a 6x in the waist. I'm so glad my mom can sew, because the child's legs are almost as long as mine, and I'm not short!

Completely off topic, I was reading your tweets. You should check this place out.

Also, I totally suggest going to the Farmers Markets. There is one every Friday at the Oshawa Centre.

What a cutie!

My sister's almost 3 year old weighs the same amount as my 20 month old!!!

I like the bright side of it - the clothes budget must be great!

Sheez, I am in trouble. My 6 month old is already 28 inches long and almost 17 pounds. I have a feeling that I will have problems keeping up with clothes that fit him. But, I guess he will be tall like his daddy.

Nate is a beautiful baby. I love those eyes!

Oh! Those eyes!

I haven't checked in for quite some time... and that boy has grown so big! He's SO BEAUTIFUL!
Looks like your family is healthy and well. ♥

You so often good for a laugh. Love the second coming of Jesus comment.

And now the fun has really begun! He moves, he moods, and he's developing his own mind! Forget the whole sitting down thing anymore!

Cole is really skinny like that, too. He's the right height, but his waist is so small that I have to roll down the tops of his pants to help them stay up, and that usually doesn't do much good! At least you're skinny, too. I have no idea where Cole got it from!

Beautiful boy!

Sounds like he has the same temper as my Little Man. Dare I tell you that mine is 4.5 years old and STILL has that temper? Nah. Better not.

oh my goodness.
your 18 month old is smaller than my 8 month old!
My daughter weighs 22 pounds already, and is 27 inches tall!
LOL.

i did forget to tell you..
she was born that way LOL
well, my mom had twins late in her years
and i'm a bit young, my mom had a girl that was 4 lbs 6 ounces
and a boy 5 pounds
and when my daughter was born she was 9 lbs 3 ounces!
.. she was REALLY big.

He is too cute! My oldest daughter was wearing 6 month clothes at a year. She always progressed on her own growth chart but at 11yo has caught up to the 50th percentile.

I love the stickers, what a great idea.

He is so CUTE!!
Connor was always average weight but above average in height, so he always seemed on the thin side. As time goes by, my best friend has been those adjustable waist pants.

People are partial to chubby babies but what matters is a HEALTHY baby. He looks perfect and has killer looks to boot.
