Update From Dad
by Karla ° Sunday, December 24, 2006
Hi everyone.
Just wanted to give everyone an update on Mom and Baby Nathan's progress.

Unfortunately Baby Nate is still in the NICU (level 2 now, down from level 3) due to his difficulty breathing but he's doing great and is otherwise healthy and active. We weren't able to hold him for the first day which broke Mom's heart but now he's coming out the incubator for feedings and cuddle time. Needless to say, even though Nate is ok, its hard for Mom and I to see him in the NICU and not be able to hug and kiss him as easily as we'd like. He is being monitored closely and will come out permanently when he says he's ready so for now, we're waiting.

Mom is doing great and Nate is enjoying all of the wonderful colostrum that Mom is pumping which is fed to Nathan and they are working at breastfeeding.

As for me? I'm soaking in the most wonderful Christmas ever even in the absence of sleep. I'm blessed with a wife who I love dearly and who is passionate about our love and our family. I've got a new and beautiful baby boy who has already wormed his way into my heart.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas Everyone

We will be thinking of you all. Congratulations! And please send Karla my fiercest bravos for pumping. It isn't easy to nurse a newborn, let alone pump in those early days. She truly is a warrior. Blessings on you.

Although we all wish Nate wasn't in the NICU, we are so happy that his prognosis is so excellent, and that in due time, he will be home with Mom and Dad!

Merry Christmas, and I'll send up an extra helping of juju.

I am so very happy to hear that you are all doing so well. My grand daughter spent her first couple of weeks in the NICU. That was many years ago but I still remember what a scary time it was. But.. you should see her now.. 16 years old and the most wonderful healthy girl. I will be sending prayers for all three of you. I wish you much happiness and much joy.

Congratulations on your (beautiful no doubt) son!

I've spent the past two days reading through your archives and I just have to tell you what a joy it's been seeing how you've come through such hard times with such strength and grace.

I'm so sorry you and the rest of the world lost gorgeous sweet Ava.

I miscarried at the end of my first trimester nearly 9 nine years ago and daily I think of my what my baby would be like today. Reading what you've been through was very therapeutic for me.

I wish nothing but love, happiness, and peace for your family.

I couldn't hold or nurse my baby boy for the first day either. It's painful to see him there, but not be able to hold him. I'm thinking of you often and looking forward to your homecoming.
