Adding Ads
by Karla ° Friday, March 9, 2007
I’ve avoided putting advertisements on my blog for one reason. This has always been an outlet for me to do what I enjoy most – write. I didn’t want advertisements to take away from the genuine honesty I want my words to portray about my family. But, the more I look around at everybody else’s blogs, the more I am beginning to feel like I am missing out on one of blogging’s best kept secrets, or a free loaf of bread, or something like that.

The truth of the matter is, we are a single income family and now that Nate is here, the kickstand that I spent so much time nonchalantly leaning on while twiddling my thumbs waiting for a baby has been knocked out from under my feet, and while I was lying there all dizzy and befuckled on the floor trying to figure out what hit me, I realized that if there was anything I could do to help my family, even if it means jumping off a bridge with the rest of my friends or the occasional free pack of lavender scented baby bum wipes, the gosh golly Sally Sue, why not.

I mean, my words will still be honest and genuine and there’s no harm in wanting your baby to have a nice smelling behind is there?

Right?

Anybody?

I have never thought that there was anything wrong with people putting ads on their blogs. I mean, they can take up a lot of time and why shouldn't you make a bit of play money off what you do? Go for it!

Oh, and I want to know how much you're making so that maybe I'll do it too! ;)

But seriously, I have always wondered how much people make.

Don't sell out, honey. Ads will detract from your posts, and you don't get much in return. If you're looking for more exposure and commercialism, go for it, but if it's for the freebies, don't. Your call.

Don't pay attention to the people who say you're "selling out." Selling out is when you change what you write in order to get paid, and we all know you wouldn't do that. People who tell you you're selling out just because you're making a little money are just jealous.

You are not selling out. I will read regardless of ads or no ads.

Can you send me the information I think I am going to add some ads to my site. Thanks

Go for it! One of my bbfs just added ads a month or so ago, and I JUST noticed this week. Really!

Doesn't hurt a thing, imo.

You are not selling out at all. My husband and I have been wondering the same thing and decided to go for it. They never stop me from reading a blog and more often than not I don't even notice them.

I've been wondering about ads, too. Let us know how you do, if it's easy, that kind of thing...

It is SO NOT selling out! How could someone SAY that? I agree with the above commenter that I rarely notice ads, BUT if I DO notice them, because of the awesomeness of most programs now (like Google) the ads are taylored to subjects that you write about, making them relevant. Don't you worry about a thing. I hope you get your freebees and loaves of bread and then some.

What company or program did you use for your ads?

It's barely noticeable, and not a distraction from you words. I'll click on yours if you'll click on mind. ;)

Doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, yesterday I clicked on it for you and will click again.. now :)
