M.I.A

I owe you a huge apology, Friends. I’ve been MIA here with my writing and not a day goes by that I don’t feel guilty for not sitting down and unloading my thoughts because that’s what I love. I love writing. I love YOU! I love the fact that you take time to actually visit me here on this small corner of the internet and here I am all barely online and well, yeah, I get it, I suck.

I have a post in the works about my thoughts on returning to a full time job, something I have not done since Ava died in 2005, but for now, Mark and I are cooking homemade pasta sauce and whole wheat pasta from scratch, as in like, totally rolling out the pasta old school style and Nate is calling me to colour with him and life could not be more perfect and holy hell I’ve missed my family this week.

I can't recall the last time we pulled out our fresh pasta maker...sometime before kids, I think. Sounds like a wonderful dinner!

Enjoy your time with family and write when you are able...no apologies required.

We've totally missed you too BUT living your life is way more important. And, MY GOD, that boy couldn't be more precious.

WE MISS YOU but glad things are well!!!!

It's good to hear you're settling into the new digs. So are you growing Nate's hair out? He's gorgeous, either way, of course. ;-)

Glad to hear you've been absent because you're living life (and not something bad). :)

Sounds wonderful!

It's universal: Kids just can't resist putting those caps on their fingers!

Peace.

It really does sound that life for the 3 of you cannot get any better!
Never made pasta from scratch before ~ I bet it's tricky to do LOL!!

It's hard to balance, but just knowing that blog-friends are out there is a relief. Don't worry about how often you post (she says to you, and tries to take the advice herself): just live. And report back when possible.

Karla, would you mind sharing your homemade pasta dough recipe? I've tried so many times and it doesn't work. Would love if you posted it!

Absolutely. Will also post our first attempt at homemade pasta sauce too. MMM. (Only thing is you must love garlic!)

Hi, so sorry for the delay in getting this recipe. I can't find the link at the moment to the homemade whole wheat pasta recipe, but it was very simple. Like, hard whole pasta, eggs and extra virgin olive oil.

Pasta sauce:
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
3 cloves garlic, minced (I buy my garlic pre-minced in a little jar)
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
1 large scoup (my technical term) of basil pesto sauce
2 bay leaves
several leaves of fresh oregano

I like to put my own whole tomatoes in the sauce too. I'd add finely chopped veggies, but you know, Mark would have a fit. :)

Karla! Thanks so much for the sauce recipe. If you happen across the pasta dough recipe, I'd be so grateful. I've been trying so hard to make my own and would love a good recipe. Please and thanks again. :)
