Rockstar Baby Nate’s First Movie
by Karla ° Saturday, December 30, 2006
Nate is doing absolutely marvelous. My champion nurser is back up to his original birth weight of 6lbs 11oz after dropping down to 6lbs while in the hospital. He still has a bit of jaundice, but it’s getting better each day, especially with his mini sky gazing/window seat tan sessions next to a natural light source. For now, we wait for Mr. Carrot Skin to become Caucasian once again.

I have so many thoughts screaming to get themselves into written words, like my c-section experience this time around and dealing with a head on the verge of explosion from a spinal headache to the marvels of double duty electric breast pumps to establish my milk supply while Nate was on oxygen, but tearing myself away from him sort of feels like what I would imagine removing one of my own limbs might feel like.

For now, his still beaming father has put together this marvelment of a video debut of our little Rockstar baby.

Let the precious art of bottling every single moment and memory of this kid begin.

I love that Mark creates these video's as a keepsake to you and to share with us. Both this one and the one of baby Ava have really touched my heart. In different ways of course but they are both wonderful. There are so many things I really enjoyed about this video! After seeing Mark hold his little boy I realized where he gets his rockstar hair from!! :-) I love it! I love that you are smiling in almost every picture! It is really beautiful and I am SO happy for your little family! Happy New Year!!

Little Nate is indeed already a worldwide star, I am popping in from England checking in on him and his fabulous family, I have been weeping along with so many others, having read about precious Ava and am crying with joy to read about her baby brother with the funky hair. What a treat to be able to share in your lives and the joy this tiny little man has already brought to so many. Helen.

He is precious. A little piece of my heart healed seeing your joy in your amazing son. Thank you.

Oh Karla - that is so beautiful - I'm a little choked up.

I look forward to watching the mother in you emerge. Enjoy the journey!

A year ago right now I had a son who was bright yellow who also went down to 6lbs after being born at 6lbs 10oz! [evidence: http://beaninlondon.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html]
Not that I am recommending this, and of course breastfeeding is the milk of champions, but I have to say that despite the fact the midwives kept saying that feeding him more and more would get rid of the jaundice, it didn't really go until I started combination feeding him. They didn't know why he had prolonged jaundice but the formula that was given at around 3 weeks or so did the trick. I haven't had a chance to say congratulations yet - so happy for you and your new little family.

woooohooo so cute!! :D:D

Karla,
I hadn't watched the video until tonight. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found Untangling Knots and then been allowed to share in this literally miraculous journey. Such a gift you and your family have given the rest of us. Poor Nate, he's got a Truman Show like audience in all of us. Imagine the cheek pinching if this weren't over the internet. As always, blessings to you all. Happy Year of new beginnings.

Sitting here with a tear in my eye. What a great video. And it always makes me beam with joy when I see a father holding his newborn child; it brings back fantastic memories of me holding my little Abby 14 months ago.

Enjoy the journey, there is nothing like it.

I was away over the holidays and could only catch up today. Congratulations to the three of you. It is a beautiful video and he is amazingly perfect. You three deserve every happiness and joy. Welcome to the world Nathan!

That was beautiful! I'm teary eyed.

Andrew had thick, black hair and yellow skin too. His eyes were a little slanty, so the effect was a little odd.

Nate is perhaps THE most beautiful baby boy we have ever seen.
Though we have sat from a distance, rest assured Karla that we have been with you the entire time and have read every word you have written in your blog(s). Words cannot describe how proud we are of you and Mark. May 2007 and beyond bring you nothing but happiness and joy. With open arms, huge kisses and tears of joy we welcome Nate to the family.

Adorable baby and wonderful video dad!!! Two thumbs up! I hear ya about the terrible headache after the ceserean, it was about 2 weeks for me to get back to normal. The incision site didn't bother me nearly as much as the constant headache. Baby Nathan is beautiful! Congrats!

I found your blog on a link at Amalahs page. I read your whole entire archives and even read We're having a baby. I cried so many times yesterday while I read it all. But I just wanted to thank you for showing me strength I never knew I had. I found strength in you and Marks story and I now know that I can over come anything that comes my way. You should be so proud that Ava has not only brought strength to you but strength to so many people around the world. Thank you. Also Nate is freaking adorable and I looove the fohawk. I can't wait to see millions more pictures. Congratulations and the best of luck to you and your whole family.

I can't get over how beautiful he is. I love the video.

I'm wiping the tears away after watching that video - such a beautiful welcome to your handsome little boy. And the music fit the footage perfectly.

Congratulations and all the best for 2007.
